In­dore runs dry on fuel due to tanker strike

in­def­i­nite tanker strike in Mad­hya Pradesh over the re­cent hike in fuel VAT and road tax sparked a fuel cri­sis in In­dore on Mon­day, with over 90% pumps run­ning dry by af­ter­noon. Po­lice are reg­u­lat­ing fuel sale and es­cort­ing tankers. The ad­min­is­tra­tion had to mo­bilise ad­di­tional forces and tankers in cen­tral In­dia’s busi­ness cap­i­tal, and im­posed re­stric­tions un­der Sec­tion 144 CrPC, pro­hibit­ing ru­mours and sen­si­tive in­for­ma­tion on so­cial me­dia.
