is found dead on the first-floor bed­room of his hill­side bun­ga­low, barely a few yards from the Calangute po­lice sta­tion, with his throat slit. Two years af­ter the grue­some and baf­fling mur­der, po­lice ar­rested Som­nath She­lar alias Raju Sa­manth from Pune, who killed him in 2008. The mo­tive for Joshi’s mur­der was re­venge. She­lar was ar­rested from a Sali­gao restau­rant when he came to Goa with three friends.

Pacheco was ar­rested for al­leged abet­ment of sui­cide af­ter his friend

The crime branch, which took over the case from the Maina Cur­torim po­lice, re­ceived two post­mortem re­ports, recorded the state­ments of 30 wit­nesses, and booked Pacheco for abet­ment, de­struc­tion of ev­i­dence, and cul­pa­ble homi­cide not amount­ing to mur­der. 2008Bri­tish teenager
