Two years after the gruesome and baffling murder, police arrested Somnath Shelar alias Raju Samanth from Pune, who killed him in 2008. The motive for Joshi’s murder was revenge. Shelar was arrested from a Saligao restaurant when he came to Goa with three friends.
Court has convicted Shelar
Pacheco was arrested for alleged abetment of suicide after his friend
committed suicide. The crime branch, which took over the case from the Maina Curtorim police, received two postmortem reports, recorded the statements of 30 witnesses, and booked Pacheco for abetment, destruction of evidence, and culpable homicide not amounting to murder. 2008British teenager
was found allegedly drugged, sexually abused and left to die on the Anjuna beach. Goa police arrested two accused in the case, but both were acquitted by the children’s court for lack of evidence. CBI challenged the order in the high court and the high court convicted one of the accused, a barman of an Anjuna shack, Samson D’Souza, for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
HC sentenced Samson D’Souza to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment
