The

reg­u­la­tion man­dat­ing a sin­gle airbag has come in handy for car-mak­ers, but safety ex­perts say it doesn’t pro­tect the co-pas­sen­ger in the front seat. The road trans­port min­istry had ini­tially is­sued a draft pro­posal mak­ing two airbags manda­tory, but this was later mod­i­fied to stip­u­late only the driver airbag.
