Shireen ‘killer’ viscera stored for tests: Cops
Panaji: Goa Medical College (GMC) said on Tuesday that Praful Jena, who allegedly killed artist Shireen Mody, died of a pulmonory edema and that his viscera has been preserved for chemical analysis.
The Goa police said after receiving the post-mortem report that there would be no change in the status of the case as one of unnatural death.
IGP Jaspal Singh, when asked how the force would file a chargesheet in the case when the accused is dead, said, “The police, after completing the investigation, will file an abatement chargesheet.” Abatement chargesheets are filed when a trial isn’t possible due to the death of the accused.
Mody was killed allegedly by Jena, on Sunday morning, after which he too died. TOIspoke to forensic experts who said the pulmonory edema could’ve been caused by alcohol, poisoning or smothering. DSP Gajanan Prabhudesai had said on Sunday that Jena was an alcoholic.
