Self-immolation bid over ‘inaction’: Case was immediately filed, say cops
New Delhi: A day after a 25-year-old man set himself afire inside a police station claiming inaction by cops in a case registered by his father Yadram, police have received a supplementary statement from Yadram stating that the accused had also picked up a fight with him earlier.
Yadram’s son Ashu on October 9 reached the Prem Nagar police station and recorded a video of him claiming that the police officer investigating his father’s case was threatening the family. He later poured kerosene on himself and asked for head constable Sandeep. When the duty officer informed him that he was not present, he set himself ablaze. Ashu’s condition is critical at the Safdarjung hospital. On Saturday, Yadram alleged that the accused persons had thrashed him earlier in Outer Delhi .
The police officials on the other hand stated that Ashu and Yadram had a scuffle with the two brothers Amandeep Dabas and Hardeep Dabas on October 8. “At 8:30pm, Yadram’s shoulder brushed past Amandeep and his mobile phone fell down. Yadram claimed that he offered to get the phone repaired but the accused

Mishra said that the call was marked to Sandeep who later met with an accident and went on medical leave. “We had immediately registered a case under sections 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation). Amandeep and Hardeep are absconding and efforts are being made to nab them,” Mishra added.
