Forget fake news, most deepfakes are for porn
The internet has 14,678 deepfakes, AI-enabled manipulated videos, and most of them are made for porn, according to a report by DeepTrace. There have been concerns that such videos can be used to sway elections and spread misinformation, but turns out 96% of them are just fake pornography, reports Technology Review. Most of these videos targeted famous actresses and female musicians. “Deepfake pornography is a phenomenon that exclusively targets and harms women,” the authors write.
