For­get fake news, most deep­fakes are for porn

The in­ter­net has 14,678 deep­fakes, AI-en­abled ma­nip­u­lated videos, and most of them are made for porn, ac­cord­ing to a report by Deep­Trace. There have been con­cerns that such videos can be used to sway elec­tions and spread mis­in­for­ma­tion, but turns out 96% of them are just fake pornog­ra­phy, reports Tech­nol­ogy Re­view. Most of these videos tar­geted fa­mous ac­tresses and fe­male mu­si­cians. “Deep­fake pornog­ra­phy is a phe­nom­e­non that ex­clu­sively tar­gets and harms women,” the au­thors write.
