Don’t dent secularism

The Times of India (New Delhi edition) - - All That Matters -

Swapan Dasgupta in his column ‘Citizenship Bill aims to give dignity denied to Partition victims in east’ (ATM, October 6) advocates in favour of Citizenship Amendment Bill. If the bill is passed by the Parliament, citizenship will be decided on the basis of religion, which is against the spirit of secularism of our Constitution. The bill also has the potential to make the indigenous people of Northeast minorities in their own land. The government should look for other ways to help the migrants.
