Gensets only for must ser­vices from Oct 15

Af­ter pol­lu­tion watch­dog EPCA or­dered a ban on gen­er­a­tor sets in Delhi-NCR from Oc­to­ber 15, Delhi Pol­lu­tion Con­trol Com­mit­tee has is­sued a list of ex­emp­tions that per­mits only emer­gency and es­sen­tial ser­vices to use gen­er­a­tors, report Jas­jeev Gand­hiok & Paras Singh.

The ban will con­tinue till March 15, 2020. Dur­ing this pe­riod, gensets can only be used for es­sen­tial ser­vices such as in medicine (hos­pi­tals/nurs­ing homes), el­e­va­tors and es­ca­la­tors, rail­way ser­vices and sta­tions, DMRC ser­vices, air­port and ISBTs, the DPCC said. The ban ex­tends to gensets run on any fuel.
