RTI ap­peals’ wait­ing time dou­bles in 2 yrs

New Delhi: A report on the per­for­mance of cen­tral and state in­for­ma­tion com­mis­sions based on data from Jan­uary 2018 to March 2019 shows that the num­ber of pend­ing RTI ap­peals and com­plaints stood at a high of 2,18,347 in 26 in­for­ma­tion com­mis­sions. In the cen­tral in­for­ma­tion com­mis­sion alone, the es­ti­mated wait­ing time on ap­peals nearly dou­bled be­tween Novem­ber1, 2017 and April 1, 2019, go­ing up from 10 months to 1 year and seven months, the report sug­gests.
