A poignant portrait of a delivery man braving the biting chill of Kashmir’s winter to bring cooking gas to houseboats on the Dal Lake.

THIS PHOTOGRAPH WAS SHOT on Dal Lake in Srinagar, Kashmir. On this January day, it was snowing heavily, and the lake looked like it was on the verge of freezing up. But that didn’t stop this man from delivering LPG cylinders to houseboats that harboured tourists. LPG is the most common source of fuel used to heat water and cook food in the region. This picture shows Kashmiris’ efforts to make their guests comfortable, sometimes at great personal risk.
