SEASON OF CHANGE

As we set aside the inertia of the last year-and-a-half and get back on our feet, it’s time to celebrate with some special watches. Here are five recent launches worthy of a toast to the good times.

1. Classic Fusion Chronograph Boutique Capri HUBLOT

The island of Capri is home to the Rue Vittorio Emanuele, a high street that hosts the Hublot boutique. This boutique now sells a limited-edition timepiece dedicated to the summer air of Capri. Its titanium case is topped with a blue ceramic bezel that reflects the skies above the Bay of Naples. The white dial is complemented by two blue chronograph counters and a blue striated rubber strap. The watch is fitted with an automatic chronograph house movement, HUB1143, and has a power reserve of 42 hours.

30 pieces only; `9,00,600 ――

2. Oyster Perpetual Submariner ROLEX

Launched in 1953, Submariner was the first divers’ wristwatch waterproof to a depth of 100 metres; that feat now stands at 300 metres. The rotatable bezel of the new Submariner is equipped with a 60-minute graduated Cerachrom insert that allows divers to monitor their dive time. This insert, patented by Rolex, is made of a hard, virtually scratchproof ceramic that is inert and unaffected by UV rays. The middle case is crafted from a solid block of Oystersteel, a corrosion-resistant alloy, or from 18K gold. Price on request ――

3. Royal Oak Selfwinding Black Ceramic AUDEMARS PIGUET

The first Royal Oak Selfwinding crafted in black ceramic for smaller wrists has a 34mm case. Its sleek black look is enhanced by pink-gold accents in the hour markers and hands with luminescent coating.

Eight hexagonal screws—in 18K pink gold—secure the bezel to the case. The dial’s 'Grande Tapisserie' design is achieved by carving out little squares on the thin metal plate by an engraving machine dating back to the 1970s. Price on request ――

4. London Chronograph Bronze SPEAKE MARIN

The London Chronograph collection reinvents iconic vintage movements every year. For this limited edition, Speake-Marin pays tribute to one of the most loved movements of the 20th century: the Valjoux 72, which first appeared in 1938. The new watch is housed in a 42mm bronze case with a threedimensional dial that flaunts three counters. The Piccadilly case in bronze is designed to see fast oxidation and a natural patina, giving each timepiece a unique look. 10 pieces only; price on request
