COUNTING DOWN
As 2021 comes to a close, we present a unique collection of five timepieces that represent five different countries. Here’s to the irrepressible spirit of travel.
Big Bang DJ Snake HUBLOT
DJ Snake, the global music phenomenon from France, has collaborated with Swiss watchmaker Hublot to create this 45mm satin-finished, partly skeletonised watch adorned with a “Newton’s Rings” effect—iridescent colours on a black titanium case—that evokes the vibe of an electronic-music concert. In a limited edition of 100 pieces, it comes with two interchangeable straps. The automatic flyback chronograph watch is powered by the maker’s HUB1242 UNICO movement and has a power reserve of 72 hours. `19,67,100
1. Luna Magna ARNOLD & SON
The Swiss watchmaker with English roots makes an impression with the largest moon ever created in relief for a wristwatch. On an aventurine glass dial, a rotating sphere represents the phases of the moon against a starry backdrop, presented in a 44mm red-coloured 18K-gold case. The off-centred hours and minutes dial at 12 o’clock is a signature aesthetic. Half of the moon is made of marble to represent the illuminated part, while the other half is made of aventurine glass to depict the dark side. `37,80,000

2. Tangente 38 – 50 ans de Médecins Sans Frontières NOMOS
In its long association with Médecins Sans Frontières, Nomos has created over 10,000 watches in various models, all signified by a red numeral at 12 o’clock. Marking the 50th anniversary of the organisation, this watch is a unisex model in stainless steel, 37.5mm in diameter and 6.7mm in height. The solid case-back features a limited-edition engraving, and the dial is galvanised and white silver-plated—complemented by a dark grey textile strap. The timepiece is powered by the in-house manual winding Alpha calibre. Price on request

3. Historiques American 1921 Platine VACHERON CONSTANTIN
Long roads, big cars, and the ability to read time at a glance without having to take hands off the steering wheel made Vacheron Constantin’s asymmetric watch an icon in 1921. To mark its 100th anniversary, three interpretations have been launched: the one in Platinum 950 stands out. With its cushion-shaped case, diagonal time display, and crown positioned between 1 o’clock and 2 o’clock, the new Historiques American 1921 model is as iconic as ever.

4. Luminor Piccolo Due Madreperla PANERAI
The brand from Florence has often experimented with coloured straps and rosegold cases, but never had an offering dedicated to women until now. Its first foray into the segment stands out for its mother-of-pearl dial, which is complemented by pink gold hands, Arabic numerals, and indexes filled with SuperLumiNova. The 38mm case—the smallest ever for a Panerai watch—is crafted in Goldtech, a trademark gold alloy with high resistance to oxidation. It is presented on a cherry-red alligator strap and has a quick-release system for switching of straps. `13,05,000
