Nepal boosts Pil­grim­age Tourism through road­shows

Nepal Tourism Board re­cently con­ducted Nepal Sales Mis­sion 2013 in two South In­dian cities. The sales mis­sions were held in Madu­rai on Jan­uary 8, and in Trichy on Jan­uary 9, 2013. The Nepalese del­e­ga­tion was led by Ro­hini Prasad Khanal, Se­nior Of­fi­cer – Mar­ket­ing and Pro­mo­tion, Nepal Tourism Board.

Khanal said that the ob­jec­tive of the road­shows was to fa­cil­i­tate mu­tual growth in the tourism sec­tor. He pointed out that South In­di­ans, es­pe­cially those from Tamil Nadu, pre­ferred to visit re­li­gious places and NTB is keen to pro­mote Mount Kailash-Mansarovar.

He added that Nepal had a va­ri­ety of tourist spots to at­tract tourists across age groups and has es­tab­lished it­self as the gate­way to Mount Kailash Manasarovar. In 2012, Nepal re­ceived 164,680 tourists from In­dia by air which is 13.3% in­cre­ment com­pared to last year.
