Pro­mot­ing pack­ages via B2B

Un­der ‘Last Minute Ho­tel Deals’, ho­tels and properties across the coun­try pro­vide dis­counted in­ven­tory for last minute book­ings over in­ter­net and mo­biles.

travel agent MakeMyTrip is fo­cussing on sell­ing ho­tels and hol­i­day pack­ages on its B2B plat­forms. The travel por­tal also aims at ex­pan­sion through its fran­chisee stores across the coun­try. Deep Kalra, CEO & Co­Founder, MakeMyTrip opined, “We have re­alised that there is fur­ther op­por­tu­nity for growth in the ho­tels and pack­ages seg­ment. To rely solely on air pack­ages is not pru­dent in to­day’s cli­mate. We feel there is a need to di­ver­sify and we are con­tin­u­ously fo­cussing on non-air prod­ucts to in­crease their share of rev­enue as well.” MakeMyTrip has launched a new ini­tia­tive called Last Minute Ho­tel Deals. Un­der this ini­tia­tive, ho­tels and properties across the coun­try pro­vide dis­count- ed in­ven­tory for last minute book­ings through the in­ter­net and mo­bile on MakeMyTrip.

MakeMyTrip is also look­ing for fur­ther ac­qui­si­tions. Kalra said, “We are look­ing at both do­mes­tic and in­ter­na­tional ac­qui­si­tions es­pe­cially in South­east Asia. Ad­di­tion­ally, we are also keen for ac­qui­si­tions in the pil­grim­age tourism seg­ment as we feel that it has tremen­dous un­tapped po­ten­tial.” The Delhi-based travel por­tal is also pur­su­ing a hy­brid model of ex­pan­sion in the coun­try. MakeMyTrip cur­rently has 61 stores in 38 cities across In­dia. Kalra stated, “We are adopt­ing a fran­chise model for fur­ther ex­pan­sion and are on the look- out for the right part­ners. Our tar­get mar­ket cur­rently is the Tier-II cities in In­dia and we will then reach out to Tier-III cities.”
