Keen to have MICE in Goa

Diwa Goa, the first prop­erty of the Alila Ho­tels and Re­sorts in In­dia, is fo­cussing on tap­ping the do­mes­tic MICE mar­ket in the coun­try. Sid­dharth Savkur, Gen­eral Man­ager, Alila Diwa Goa said, “The cor­po­rate crowd is look­ing to­wards des­ti­na­tions such as Goa to con­duct MICE ac­tiv­i­ties. We are keen on tap­ping this seg­ment as it has tremen­dous po­ten­tial. Aside from the MICE mar­ket, we will also look to tap the FIT seg­ment in both in­bound and do­mes­tic travel. The wed­ding seg­ment has been very suc­cess­ful for our ho­tel and is very im­por­tant to us.”

Speak­ing of work­ing with the travel trade, Savkur said, “Our main feeder mar­ket for the ho­tel is Mum­bai. We have sales teams present in Ben­galuru, Ahmed­abad and Delhi. Ad­di­tion­ally, we are see­ing a lot of de­mand from Tier-II cities such as Chandi­garh, Su­rat and Pune. The travel

Re­cently ap­pointed as Gen­eral Man­ager for the Alila Diwa Goa, Savkur re­it­er­ated that his goals for 2013 are to make in­roads into the MICE, cor­po­rate and FIT seg­ment as well as see bet­ter rev­enue yields from rooms. “De­spite 2012 be­ing a tough year for the travel in­dus­try, there hasn’t been much im­pact on oc­cu­pancy in Goa yet,” he added.
