An­daman & Ni­co­bar for pre­mium trav­ellers

The state is pro­mot­ing high-end leisure and ad­ven­ture ac­tiv­i­ties to at­tract pre­mium trav­ellers to the is­lands. The depart­ment is also con­sid­er­ing sign­ing an MoU with few In­dian states to en­cour­age mu­tual tourism growth.

an aim to po­si­tion it­self as a pre­mium desti­na­tion among high-end In­dian trav­ellers and in­bound tourists, the Depart­ment of Tourism, An­daman & Ni­co­bar Ad­min­is­tra­tion is tak­ing num­ber of ini­tia­tives. For in­stance, the tourism depart­ment is par­tic­i­pat­ing at mul­ti­ple do­mes­tic travel trade fairs to meet the travel where there is a great po­ten­tial.” The depart­ment is also try­ing to get in more di­rect flights from In­dian cities and in­ter­na­tional coun­tries to en­hance tourism and in­vest­ment in the state.

“And with de­pre­ci­at­ing ru­pee, the do­mes­tic and in­bound tourism mar­ket is ex­pected to get a boost and we are all set to tap the high-end and pre­mium trav­ellers from In­dia and over­seas. Cur­rently we re­ceive about 80 per cent of In­di­ans and rest in­bound tourists. With im­prov­ing brand aware­ness in in­ter­na­tional mar­kets, we are pos­i­tive to record growth in in­ter­na­tional ar­rivals in com­ing years,” adds Vi­jay. The depart­ment is also en­cour­ag­ing pri­vate play­ers to build more ac­com­mo­da­tion fa­cil­i­ties, of­fer ad­ven­ture ac­tiv­i­ties, de­velop tourist at­trac­tions, etc to boost the tourism sec­tor.
