IN MEMORIAM
Francis Wacziarg
Co-chairman and founder of Neemrana Hotels, Francis Wacziarg, who pioneered heritage hotels in India, passed away in New Delhi on Feb 19. He had been battling blood cancer for the past 8 years. Originally from France, Wacziarg arrived in India 40 years ago and fell in love with the country. Just a day before his death, Wacziarg along with Aman Nath, had been awarded the Life Time Achievement Award by the MOT for their work in promoting heritage tourism. Their transformation of the 500-year-old Neemrana Fort Palace from ruins to a flourishing property inspired several heritage owners to do the same.
