India plans for 200 low-cost airports
India is planning to set up around 200 low-cost airports across the country in next two decades. The idea behind this initiative is to expand the air connectivity of tier-II and tier-III cities. Also, these airports would help to manage the growing passenger rush. Presently, the non-metro airports account for only about 30 per cent of the total air traffic, which is expected to rise to 45 per cent in the next few years.
