India at ATM-2014

India was in the limelight, as the recipient of the 2014 New Frontiers Award and due to aggressive marketing by India Tourism in GCC during 2013. Around 28 participan­ts were present in MOT’s India Pavilion.

India Tourism has launched a new internatio­nal campaign ‘ Find What You Seek’.

There has been a consistent growth of FTAs from this region to India over the last three years. The year 2012 has registered an overall growth of around 17 per cent over 2011. As Gulf and the Middle East regions are important markets for India, the Regional Office of India Tourism in Dubai is organising tourism road shows, food festivals and medical seminars in GCC countries every year.

India has emerged as a destinatio­n for medical/wellness travel in GCC countries. The percentage of FTAs visiting India for medical treatment has been growing rapidly since 2000. In 2013, the total FTAs to India stood at 6.84 million, as compared to 6.57 million in 2012, a 4.1 per cent increase.

“Connectivi­ty is increasing as the demand is growing for business and Tourism in India in General. Flydubai is introducin­g direct flight to New Delhi from Dubai effective from June 1, 2013,” he further stated.

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is also stepping up its efforts to attract new target groups such as eco and adventure travellers and highlight the tourism potential of relatively less known products and areas.
