IAAI delegation meets Civil Aviation Minister

The IAAI Delegation, led by Biji Eapen, met Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati, Hon’ble Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Govt. of India on June 20, 2014 . Memorandum­s were handed over to the Hon'ble Minister with a request to intervene in the matter of the reinstatem­ent of Travel Agency Commission as per IATA Res. 818g and the Aircraft Rules, 1937. At the highest level, the Delegation requested that appropriat­e orders should be passed mandating 5% commission and ticket stock of all Airlines to all Travel Agents similar to the one issued in favour of Cargo Agents on 29.08.2007 by the Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation. Presentati­ons on ‘Proposals for the betterment of the Indian Tourism & Aviation Segments’ were also made and the Hon'ble Civil Aviation Minister assured that he will look into the matter and take necessary steps to redress the grievances. Earlier, IAAI delegation had met and requested the Secretary for Civil Aviation and the Director-General, DGCA, to intervene in the matter of reinstatem­ent of Agency Commission and that Presentati­ons were made on ‘Proposals for the betterment of the Indian Tourism & Aviation Segments’.
