Cruise Norway, Hurtigruten’s oldest and first partner in India, has announced an extra three per cent commission to its trade partners through its new website launched on October 27, 2014 in Mumbai in the presence of its exclusive agents.

John Ambat, Executive Vice President at Cruise Norway, said, "We are privy to some exclusive deals from Hurtigruten that we want to extend to our partners. This will be done through our new Indiaspecific portal: hurtigruten.in that has a special 'Travel Agent' section. Agents can register themselves here and take advantage of our special Hurtigruten deals that are exclusive to Cruise Norway."

Karnail Gill, International Sales Manager for Hurtigruten UK, who was visiting India, said, "We are offering a bonus commission through Cruise Norway which will be an extra three per cent for agents for a limited period. We want to invest in India and develop the market and we are doing it partly through this bonus com- mission given to agents who sign up on this new portal."

The bonus commission is applicable on all Norwegian voyages booked before November 30, 2014 for Q4 2014 to Q1 2015 - that means any voyage sailing between October 1, 2014 to 31 March, 2015.

Gill was in India to meet Hurtigruten’s trade partners including some of the big tour operators such as C&K, Thomas Cook and Discover the World Marketing as well as to map out a plan of action for 2015 in terms of promotions, PR and marketing. “We need to work out a strategy for the India market. We work very closely with the Scandinavia Tourism Board (STB) but we need to step up our visibility here.”

Hurtigruten was part of the 16-member STB delegation that had visited India as part of the three-city roadshow last year. Gill invited the travel agents to share their ideas and feedback with him on ways in which the Norwegian company can promote itself in the India market.

Cruise Norway not only receives bookings from metros like Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune but also tier II cities like Madurai, Tiripur and Coimbatore.
