The upscale Ramada Udaipur Resort & Spa is betting big on the destination wedding and MICE segment. According to Ratan Taldar, MD, Ramada Udaipur Resort & Spa, Udaipur has conventionally been a leisure destination.

The 72-key resort, which started operations in October 2009, has established itself in the luxury hospitality market in Udaipur. The MD feels the architecture of the hotel sets it apart from all its competitors. “The architecture is contextual primarily to the Mewar region, and specifically to the traditional building language seen in the hilly outskirts of the city. The courtyards, the verandas and the terraces are the external spatial elements, integrating well with the guest facilities spaces. Maximum utilisation of traditional materials and latest technologies complemented with contem- porary life style is present in this luxurious resort.”

The primary concept of the resort is of a central courtyard, around which all the four types of guest rooms are located, along with three lawns at different levels, so as to capitalise on the spectacular view of the city, famous Lake Pichola and Sajjan-garh fort (popularly known as Monsoon Palace).

“However, in the last few years, we have seen MICE and destination wedding segment driving business in a big way. Currently, in Ramada Udaipur Resort & Spa, Udaipur, the revenues are driven by a fair mix of leisure, weddings and MICE,” he pointed out.

Talking about the various amenities offered at the resort, Taldar remarked, “Ramada Udaipur Resort & Spa boasts of a spa with breathtaking views of the city, heated swimming pool, Sajjangarh facing fitness centre and many activities such as carrom board, chess, table tennis, fooseball table, cycling, aqua- sports, yoga and swimming sessions, Rajasthani cooking classes as well as making exotic cocktails and mocktails.”
