20% rise in air travel

In­dia emerged as the strong­est grow­ing avi­a­tion mar­ket with 20 per cent growth in 2015. Brian Pearce, Chief Econ­o­mist, In­ter­na­tional Air Trans­port As­so­ci­a­tion (IATA) sheds light on the avi­a­tion in­dus­try and the per­for­mance of air cargo in 2015.

Pearce iden­ti­fies Asia Pa­cific re­gion and the Mid­dle East as the strong­est re­gions of growth for air travel. He says, "Air­lines from both Asia Pa­cific re­gion and the Mid­dle East have seen close to dou­ble fig­ure growth. The out­stand­ing mar­ket has ac­tu­ally been In­dia, where we saw growth of 20 per­cent. On the other end of the spec­trum, there are also some very weak mar­kets as well.
