Di­wali fire­works at Andhra

Andhra Pradesh tourism depart­ment has launched a new cam­paign that cen­tres around fes­ti­vals cel­e­brated in the state and is tar­geted at the do­mes­tic mar­kets from nearby states.

Af­ter run­ning two desti­na­tion-based cam­paigns – ‘Let’s Vizag’ and ‘GoKonaseem­a’ – to at­tract the do­mes­tic mar­ket to these cities, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion (APTDC) has launched an­other one that clearly fo­cuses on at­tract­ing the Di­wali and Durga Puja mar­ket.

Speak­ing on the side­lines of the 33rd IATO An­nual Con­ven­tion held in Bhubaneswa­r, Hi­man­shu Shukla, Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor, APTDC, Gov­ern­ment of Andhra Pradesh, said, “This is not just a cam­paign; it is a one-stop so­lu­tion that in­cludes ac­tiv­i­ties in three des­ti­na­tions as well as hol­i­day pack­ages. This cam­paign is mainly for the Dussera and Di­wali hol­i­day pe­riod for trav­ellers from nearby states. Through this cam­paign, we are pro­mot­ing three des­ti­na­tions – Vi­jayawada, Vizag and Ra­jama­hen­dravaram. These places will also have var­i­ous cul­tural ac­tiv­i­ties around fes­ti­vals, to be cel­e­brated in the state over 10 days. This shows our com­mit­ment to­wards mar­ket­ing and pro­mot­ing our des­ti­na­tions.”

Vizag has re­cently been cho­sen as the venue for IATO’s 34th An­nual Con­ven­tion. Speak­ing about this, Shukla adds, “There is a strong part­ner­ship be­tween the gov­ern­ment and the pri­vate sec­tor in Andhra Pradesh. We have tied up with ho­tels and 17 tour op­er­a­tors in Vizag for this. This will be a joint ef­fort of the tourism depart­ment, the ho­tels, and the tour op­er­a­tors. We have come for­ward with many pack­ages for this pe­riod that the trade will be sell­ing which will be a one-stop so­lu­tion.”

The tour pack­ages are cat­e­gorised un­der three, four and five-stars and have been de­signed for a wide range of trav­eller seg­ments. Shukla added that the tourism board will also start or­gan­is­ing fa­mil­iari­sa­tion trips for travel agents from other states.
