He­nan Prov­ince banks on re­li­gious tourism

A jewel in cen­tral China, He­nan Prov­ince is go­ing all out to pro­mote its cul­tural icons and spec­tac­u­lar land­scapes in­clude the Shaolin Tem­ple, Long­men Grot­toes and the scenic area of the Yel­low River to dis­cern­ing tourists.

Sit­u­ated at the east part of cen­tral China, He­nan Prov­ince is the cra­dle of an­cient Chi­nese civ­i­liza­tion. It is the birth­place of China's great his­toric fig­ures, and the ori­gin of the unique Chi­nese in­ven­tions and mar­tial arts. Among 8 an­cient cap­i­tals in China, four are lo­cated in He­nan prov­ince, namely Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Luoyang and Anyang. Em­per­ors of 20 dy­nas­ties chose to build their cap­i­tals there. China's long his­tory and rich cul­ture have be­stowed He­nan prov­ince an ar­ray of world-renowned his­toric and cul­tural her­itage and va­ri­ety of fa­mous tourist at­trac­tions. The his­tor­i­cal her­itage sites, such as the His­toric Mon­u­ments of Dengfeng, Long­men Grot­toes and Anyang Yinxu are world-fa­mous. To take the Long­men Grot­toes as an ex­am­ple, it em­bod­ies the pro­found mu­tual in­flu­ence of cul­tures be­tween our two coun­tries. It has al­ready at­tracted many In­di­ans to visit it. The White Horse Tem­ple in Luoyang, the In­dian-style Bud­dhist Hall of which was in­au­gu­rated by In­dian Pres­i­dent Prat­i­bha Patil, is also a key draw for In­dian visi­tors.

With rich his­tor­i­cal and cul­tural her­itages and at­trac­tive scenery, He­nan Prov­ince has al­ready be­come a very pop­u­lar tourist des­ti­na­tion for do­mes­tic and for­eign tourists. Reg­u­larly tourist events, such as the In­ter­na­tional May­ors Fo­rum on Tourism (IMFT), Luoyang Peony Fair, and In­ter­na­tional Yel­low River Fes­ti­val in San­menxia, are or­gan­ised which serves as use­ful plat­form to pro­mote co­op­er­a­tion be­tween China and other coun­tries, in­clud­ing In­dia.

He­nan's vast his­tory, eth­nic and cul­tural di­ver­sity presents the trav­eler with many pos­si­bil­i­ties on how to spend your time in the prov­ince. For the first-time vis­i­tor to this re­gion, the must-see cul­tural icons and spec­tac­u­lar land­scapes in­clude the Shaolin Tem­ple, Long­men Grot­toes and the scenic area of the Yel­low River.

He­nan Prov­ince, China par­tic­i­pated in the 25th edi­tion of South Asia’s largest travel and tourism ex­hi­bi­tion – SATTE 2018. SATTE serves as a plat­form for He­nan Tourism to en­gage with the big­gest and most in­flu­en­tial B2B and B2C part­ners in In­dia and all over the world. At the re­cently con­cluded SATTE 2018, He­nan Tourism along with its part­ners high­lighted the des­ti­na­tion’s grow­ing port­fo­lio of be­spoke and af­ford­able ex­pe­ri­ences, whether trav­el­ling for busi­ness or leisure.

Hun­dreds of visi­tors were en­ter­tained cen­tre stage with Taichi per­for­mance hosted by He­nan Tourism. He­nan Tourism's booth saw much traf­fic as ven­dors and buy­ers showed in­creased in­ter­est in learn­ing the his­tory and cul­ture of the “Cra­dle of Civ­i­liza­tion.” “We are very proud to bring He­nan to In­dia for all to see,” said Tian Xin, Di­rec­tor of New Delhi for China Na­tional Tourism Ad­min­is­tra­tion.
