The re­cently-re­leased pas­sen­ger char­ter by Min­istry of Civil Avi­a­tion (MoCA) en­lists the pas­sen­ger rights against air­lines, es­pe­cially in case of a de­lay or can­cel­la­tion of a flight.

Suresh Prabhu, Union Min­is­ter of Civil Avi­a­tion, along with Jayant Sinha, Min­is­ter of State for Civil Avi­a­tion, have re­leased the pas­sen­ger char­ter at Avi­a­tion Con­clave 2019 jointly or­gan­ised by Min­istry of Civil Avi­a­tion and Con­fed­er­a­tion of In­dian In­dus­try in Delhi. In this sce­nario, if the wait­ing time is over two hours, the air­line should make im­me­di­ate ar­range­ment to dis­em­bark at the near­est air­port. The fa­cil­i­ta­tion for the same or the re­fresh­ments dur­ing the wait­ing time have to be pro­vided by the air­line.

If a pas­sen­ger is in­formed of the can­cel­la­tion of a flight in less than two weeks be­fore de­par­ture, the air­line needs to give an al­ter­nate flight to the pas­sen­ger or re­fund the ticket com­pletely
