DoNER calls Dubai investors

A high-level delegation from eight Northeast states of India visited Expo2020 Dubai to showcase the business opportunit­ies in the region, including those in the tourism sector.

The India Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai hosted ‘Northeast Fortnight’ from March 4 to 17, 2022, which witnessed participat­ion from various representa­tives of the state, Northeaste­rn Council (NEC) and Ministry of Developmen­t of Northeast Region (DoNER). The high-level delegation included Bedu Singh

Panth, Minister, Commerce & Industries Department and Tourism & Civil Aviation of Sikkim, Robert Royte, Minister Tourism and Sports of Mizoram. They actively engaged with business leaders at the Expo to showcase the economic potential of the region, highlight the crucial sectors such as tourism and hospitalit­y, and to promote the rich cultural heritage, including art and culture from these states. To position the region as a developing part of the nation, the delegation hosted several sessions aimed to highlight success stories, reforms and sectors of excellence. The start-ups from these states also showcased their innovation­s.

Several B2B and B2G meetings were scheduled during the fortnight to highlight the business opportunit­ies that Northeast region has to offer and to actively engage with potential investors to invite them to explore business opportunit­ies in the region. It included a session on highlighti­ng the investment opportunit­ies in the eight north-eastern states and presentati­ons by the states, followed by interactio­n. There was also a session on ‘Tourism Opportunit­ies in the Northeast’. Besides the business meetings, there was an array of cultural performanc­es, including traditiona­l music and dance performanc­es by well-known bands, fashion shows and film screenings.
