India’s first heliport inaugurate­d in Delhi

India’s first heliport was inaugurate­d on 28 February 2017 by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju, in Rohini, North Delhi. Owned by Pawan Hans Helicopter­s Ltd (PHHL), the

Rs 100 crore heliport has a terminal building having capacity of 150 passengers, four hangars with parking capacity of 16 helicopter­s and nine parking bays. It also has an integrated maintenanc­e, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility. The heliport will be used for providing services for disaster management, emergency medical services, and law & order surveillan­ce. It will reduce the pressure on the heavily congested IGI Delhi airport.
