Su­per Éten­dard Modernises for Ar­gentina

Ac­cord­ing to the Ar­gen­tine de­fence min­is­ter, five for­mer French Navy Su­per Éten­dard Modernisé (SEM) fighters will be trans­ferred to the Co­mando de Aviación Naval (COAN Ar­gen­tine Naval Avi­a­tion Com­mand) for use as “a spares re­source.” Also in­cluded are pow­er­plants in­stalled with an­other ten en­gines de­vel­oped as part of a spares pack­age of 9,000 items. Also in­cluded are a flight sim­u­la­tor and test benches for cal­i­bra­tion and main­te­nance. The COAN’s fleet of 11 sur­viv­ing Su­per Éten­dards has been stored for the last three years and the spare parts from France will be used to bring them back to ser­vice (Ed.: the Su­per Éten­dard saw con­sid­er­able ac­tion dur­ing the Falk­lands War in 1982).
