As Flag Officer, the Admiral has served as Assistant Chief of Materiel (IT & Systems) in Naval Headquarte­rs, Admiral Superinten­dent of Naval Dockyard, Visakhapat­nam; Chief Staff Officer (Technical), HQ ENC; Director General Naval Projects at Vishakhapa­tnam, Programme Director, HQ ATVP; and as Controller of Warship Production and Acquisitio­n in Naval Headquarte­rs.

Meanwhile, according to official sources, a woman fighter pilot of the IAF (Flt. Lt. Shivangi Singh) presently flying MiG-21s, is to shortly join No.17 Squadron equipped with the Rafale omnirole fighter.

The strength of women officers serving the Indian Air Force as on 1

September 2020 is 1875. Of these, 10 women officers are Fighter Pilots and

18 women officers are Navigators. After approval of Ministry of Defence, the IAF commenced a scheme for “Induction of

Women SSC officers in Fighter Stream of Flying Branch” in 2016, under which

10 women fighter pilots have been commission­ed, till date.
