Privatisation of PSUs

T T he Union Cabinet has reportedly cleared privatisation of public sector undertakings (PSUs) with details to be announced later. Although Defence PSUs may be included, it is learnt that the policy would begin with non-strategic sectors which will be part of Atmanirbhar Bharat objectives and it is anticipated that the Government will first limit the presence of PSUs to some half dozen strategic sectors while privatising, perhaps merging or clubbing remaining entities under a holding company.
