Anchored by Surender Gnanaolivu, Senior Consultant – Retail Experience and Consulting Editor of VM&RD magazine for the 5th time in the history of the event and supported by Anuraag Singhaal, Group VM – Creative Lead, CPC, Aditya Birla Retail & Fashion Ltd (ABRFL), VM Challenge this time was led by 6 leaders from 2 retailers ( Trent & Home Center), 2 brands (Van Heusen and ONLY) and 2 VM agencies (NVISAGE and Muted Space) and brought some 42 participants in total from companies like Titan, Raymond, Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail, Lifestyle International, Kama Ayurveda, Central, ONLY and many more. For the first time, the teams were given different products categories, each based on consumer lifestyle (i.e, Grooming, Eating, Exercising, Travelling, Dressing and Personal Care) and each team was briefed by 6 clients selected by VJ Media from the pool of delegates. Interestingly, the windows had to be created with a brief of being located in crowded metro stations and props were selected carefully to suit each of those 6 categories. A jury consisting senior display practitioners from overseas and India – Joe Baer, Co-Founder and Creative Executive Officer, ZenGenius, Inc.; David Kepron, Vice President – Design Global Design Strategies, Marriott International; Jack Ribbas - Chief Creative Officer at Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail and Vishal Kapoor, Group Chief Design Officer at Future Group India, selected the winners on the basis of relevance, impact, styling and creative use of materials. Mannequins were supplied by Tranz and Vinyl by 3M. The winners were awarded during the VM&RD Retail Design Awards 2018 held later in the evening.
