The 6th edi­tion of VM Chal­lenge, a one-of-a-kind live win­dow dis­play con­test in In­dia for the vis­ual mer­chan­dis­ing com­mu­nity, held at In-Store Asia 2018 in Mum­bai was won by Team Ha’art led by Veronika Mor­son of ONLY, while Team Or­ganika led by Marthy Ber­mejo of Home Cen­tre bagged the run­ners up award. The con­test brought 42 par­tic­i­pants from 15+ com­pa­nies. VM&RD brings to you the sneak peak of the ex­cit­ing event that laced In-Store Asia with the fun quo­tient.

The other teams were led by Shruthi Sinha, Man­ager–VM, Tata-Trent (Team Aasana), Gun­jan Shedha Di­rec­tor, Muted Space (Team Mo­visque), Namrata Sachdev, Cre­ative Di­rec­tor, NVISAGE (Team)

An­chored by Suren­der Gnanao­livu, Se­nior Con­sul­tant – Re­tail Ex­pe­ri­ence and Con­sult­ing Ed­i­tor of VM&RD mag­a­zine for the 5th time in the his­tory of the event and sup­ported by Anu­raag Sing­haal, Group VM – Cre­ative Lead, CPC, Aditya Birla Re­tail & Fash­ion Ltd (ABRFL), VM Chal­lenge this time was led by 6 lead­ers from 2 re­tail­ers ( Trent & Home Center), 2 brands (Van Heusen and ONLY) and 2 VM agen­cies (NVISAGE and Muted Space) and brought some 42 par­tic­i­pants in to­tal from com­pa­nies like Ti­tan, Ray­mond, Aditya Birla Fash­ion & Re­tail, Life­style In­ter­na­tional, Kama Ayurveda, Cen­tral, ONLY and many more. For the first time, the teams were given dif­fer­ent prod­ucts cat­e­gories, each based on con­sumer life­style (i.e, Groom­ing, Eat­ing, Ex­er­cis­ing, Trav­el­ling, Dress­ing and Per­sonal Care) and each team was briefed by 6 clients se­lected by VJ Me­dia from the pool of del­e­gates. In­ter­est­ingly, the win­dows had to be cre­ated with a brief of be­ing lo­cated in crowded metro sta­tions and props were se­lected care­fully to suit each of those 6 cat­e­gories. A jury con­sist­ing se­nior dis­play prac­ti­tion­ers from over­seas and In­dia – Joe Baer, Co-Founder and Cre­ative Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer, ZenGe­nius, Inc.; David Ke­pron, Vice Pres­i­dent – De­sign Global De­sign Strate­gies, Mar­riott In­ter­na­tional; Jack Rib­bas - Chief Cre­ative Of­fi­cer at Aditya Birla Fash­ion & Re­tail and Vishal Kapoor, Group Chief De­sign Of­fi­cer at Fu­ture Group In­dia, se­lected the win­ners on the ba­sis of rel­e­vance, im­pact, styling and cre­ative use of ma­te­ri­als. Man­nequins were sup­plied by Tranz and Vinyl by 3M. The win­ners were awarded dur­ing the VM&RD Re­tail De­sign Awards 2018 held later in the evening.
