We love our visits to beauty salons and spas! It has probably given us our best hairdos, glowing skin and a few hours blissfulness.
Today, it is a space to blank out from everyday humdrum, stress and revitalise… and let’s admit it, we all desire to be pampered. Cashing in on this, the beauty services industry in India has been burgeoning like never before. In this issue, our cover story “Beauty Services Get An Experiential Makeover”, takes a look at the transformation of this category, where along with better beauty products and services, the brands are creating the right ambience and experience for the customers. Moving away from just a clinical look, the beauty salons and spas are getting warm, comfortable and in tune with the needs of the customers walking in. VM&RD throws light on some of the interesting trends, formats and design elements.
In our Industry Focus, we highlight the major makeover happening with Retail Lighting, which is getting all smart, fully tech-enabled and centrally operational. Interestingly, we also observed that while application design was always available, product design has started happening of late in the country. Vendors are warming up to a fully ‘Make in India’ concept.
This apart, our Indian Design section interestingly looks at two experience centres - Crest – The Nature Store takes the brand’s long legacy of plywood distributorship to the next level of experiential retail and DBEL Studio emerges as a conversation space around artistic lighting.
We also have the legendary Hershey’s new upgraded Chocolate World at NYC in the international section.
Talking business, we have had the pleasure of interviewing Rakesh Biyani, Joint Managing Director, Future Retail on the projected growth plan of the retail giant, while Tanvi Malik, Co-founder, FabAlley talks to VM&RD on their expansion and omni-channel strategies.
As an interesting addition this time, VM&RD gives you expert tips of getting the right clicks for your retail spaces. Our guest columnist, George Mathew, a Bahrain-based well-known photographer shares five simple hacks for stunning store design and visual merchandising imagery.
And there’s lots more….
