‘We provide all possible location technologies on a single platform’
What is the acceptability of the Commscope brand in the Indian market after you unveiled a new brand in March 2011?
Indian customers now recognize our combined portfolio and are experiencing our new brand consistently with the same vigor, integrity, honesty, and reliability that we’ve displayed over the years.
Commscope’s new branding reflects the energy, capabilities, and leadership that adds value in serving its vast array of customers in the Indian market. The new brand initiative portrays a more dynamic company with a contemporary look and feel and a more structured hierarchy of product and solution brands serving the telecom carrier, cable television, business enterprise, and the government markets.
Do you see requirement for Commscope range of products in BWA deployment?
Commscope has been a pioneer to introduce RF path portfolio for BWA networks in India and has successfully made commercial supplies for the pilot networks that are being rolled out. To serve the demand from the service providers, we have significantly invested in our Goa manufacturing plant and have been gearing up the supply of 2.3 GHZ product range and now we are ready to support BWA rollout locally.
Have you bagged any major deals with tower players in the country for fuel cell technologies?
We have been increasingly focusing on the production of energy-efficient equipments and solutions. The company is committed towards a greener environment and has recently launched an energy conservation initiative that supports the industry’s global efforts in reducing power consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and operating costs. Hydrogen fuel cells technologies for backup power systems in the cell sites are reliable, cost-effective, green, and result in real opex reduction.
The supply chain logistics of diesels has matured over ages and diesel is available freely. In case of fuel cells, hydrogen is the fuel, which is not as freely available as diesel though hydrogen is generated in abundance by multiple industries as by-product.
Have you launched any new product for the Indian market?
Location based services (LBS) has been one key focus areas for the services providers and we have invested in this early; we are the only provider of all possible location technologies in a single platform.
In India, we have recently launched our 4G portfolio in 2.3 GHZ for our BWA customers, which has been well appreciated. In addition, Commscope has recently launched active antennas for 4G trials globally and has supplied the first active antennas to the North American market for use in an LTE network field trial; this is a major step towards the promise of better and more cost-effective ways to transmit broadband signals to mobile customers using next-generation networks.
