Voice&Data - - NEWS&VIEWS -

The government may offer the BSNL new frequency band similar to the one given to the private operators, with the PSU offering to surrender Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum in several circles. Since BSNL was allotted non-standardized frequency, putting the PSU at disadvantage vis-à-vis private operators; hence it has offered to surrender the spectrum. The Telecom Ministry might reconsider its decision to auction one slot of BWA spectrum available in most of the circles and offered it to BSNL, who had recently written a letter to DOT offering to surrender its BWA spectrum in 17 circles.
