Inmobi Magic Touch

Voice&Data - - CASE STUDY -

As organizations grow, both in size and capacity, they require an equally strong and robust support system to sustain the growth, irrespective of the size of the organization. The robustness of the support system or the infrastructure becomes even more vital when the organization is a start-up and growing at a fast pace.

There comes the role of the decisionmakers to find out and collaborate with the best possible solution provider that can deliver the business needs as per the requirement yet maintaining the budget. Start-ups do not always have the budget for experimenting and they take each step with utmost precision. They take righteous measures, use efficient means, and deploy the best ICT tools so as to get the best out of their resources.

The Case

A classic case in point is Bengaluru based Inmobi, one of the world’s largest mobile advertising networks. Inmobi serves ads of leading brands—from sneakers to Suvs—onto mobile phones globally. The 5-year-old Bengaluru based company recently attracted $200 mn in funding from Softbank, a Japanese internet giant, in a placement that outsiders figure values Inmobi at close to $1 bn.

Working with ad agencies, Inmobi helps advertisers to target users on mobile websites and inside apps. It can also help create interactive ads (it has acquired a California based company, Sprout, to do this) or enable mobile payments. Inmobi’s monthly ad impressions grew from 423 mn in December 2008 to 77.5 bn in December 2011 and close to 100 bn by the March end.

The company’s annual revenues are estimated to have crossed $100 mn, and is eyeing a turnover of $1 bn within 3 years. With mobile advertising gaining acceptance among advertisers globally, the company, a leader in the mobile advertising space, experienced a spurt in business resulting in multi-fold increase in traffic to their website.

The business that Inmobi operates in is estimated by Gartner to become by
