‘Techm and Msat will have a play in the entire ICT space’

- Akanksha Singh

What will be the focus areas once Techm and Mahindra Satyam merge?

With the announcement of merger between Techm and Mahindra Satyam, leveraging each other’s competency and expanding our footprints with respect to our customers is an area of immediate focus.

Techm has its strengths in the telecom space while Msat has its strengths in the enterprise space. Taken together, the two organiza ons will have a role to play in the en re spectrum of solu ons and services in the ICT space.

Aggressive launch of cross-pillar service offerings based on our NMACS strategy—a combination of network technologies, mobility solu ons, analytics, cloud, and security.

What were the major achievements of Tech Mahindra for FY12?

The major achievements for Tech Mahindra for FY12 were the ways the various new pillars like networks, IMS, security, etc, grew in terms of service offerings and a variety of business opportuni es were addressed.

We also successfully defined large ecosystem based solu ons such as what we called the m-cubed strategy for M2M solu ons and mobility solu ons, wherein, we brought together the offerings from the larger Mahindra Group along with Techm and Msat to define our bouquet of offerings.

What is being done by Tech Mahindra in accelera ng 3G in India?

Techm has a number of SI solu ons and products that could be deployed over 3G networks. These involve products, solutions, and even ecosystems that could be mone zed by delivering over 3G networks. We are already involved in network planning and op miza on work for 3G opera ons.

...and in the LTE space?

Once again, we have a number of SI solution accelerators and technology solu ons around video space that could be rolled out over LTE networks. We have been involved with a number of equipment manufacturers in providing product engineering support for LTE equipment, protocol stacks, etc. We have a simula on tes ng solu on called Swift—simula on With In-circuit Func onal Tes ng—that has been tested and found effec ve for E2E tes ng of LTE solu ons. We have also been involved in network design ac vi es for two LTE networks.

What would you say is required to complete the LTE ecosystem?

The network backhaul will need to be upgraded to support a complete LTE ecosystem. The enablers for long-tail offerings including the development of an ecosystem of app developers with India-centric applica ons are also required to be created. Security would be another area of focus because LTE would bring about some serious business applica ons to be handled over the public network.
