IBM Un­veils En­ter­prise Com­put­ing Model

IBM in­tro­duced ex­pert in­te­grated sys­tems fam­ily—puresys­tems—to en­able en­ter­prises to change the eco­nom­ics of IT. With the in­tro­duc­tion of the new Puresys­tems, IBM is un­veil­ing 3 ma­jor ad­vances that point to a new era of com­put­ing tech­nol­ogy that would al­low busi­nesses to slash the high costs and nag­ging com­plex­ity as­so­ci­ated with man­ag­ing IT. As per a re­lease, IBM’S Puresys­tems is the re­sult of $2 bn in­vest­ment in R&D and ac­qui­si­tions over four years, an un­prece­dented move by IBM to in­te­grate all IT el­e­ments, both phys­i­cal and vir­tual. The new sys­tems fam­ily of­fers clients an al­ter­na­tive to en­ter­prise com­put­ing model, where mul­ti­ple and dis­parate sys­tems re­quire sig­nif­i­cant re­sources to set up and main­tain. Puresys­tems sup­ports power pro­ces­sors and In­tel pro­ces­sors and are priced start­ing at $100,000.
