Educa on today has changed as compared to educa on 10 years back and so has the forms and modes of educa ng. The indispensa­ble components like pen and paper are ge ng replaced by keyboards. Technology is slowly and steadily making a mark in everyone’s life. VOICE&DATA spoke to Dr JS Sodhi, CIO & head, IT designated as assistant vice president of Amity Group to understand the changing dynamics of educa on and how ICT helped in upli ing the students who happen to be the building blocks of the society. Sodhi, today, is leading a team of 150 IT profession­als and is responsibl­e for the overall IT management of all Amity Ins tu ons throughout 30 loca ons in India and across the globe— Dubai, the US, UK, Singapore, Mauri us, and all the companies under AKC Group of Companies. The Amity Educa on Group is a private non-profit education group, offering globally benchmarke­d education at various campuses in India and around the world (Singapore, Dubai, London). These campuses are integrated and connected using the latest technology in informa on and communica on. Na onally, all the Amity campuses are integrated via MPLS with 4 MB link to the central hub whereas the interna onal campuses are connected via virtual private network to the central hub.

How are you empowering the students by the use of ICT and mobile applica ons? Which data services does your organiza on deploy for this?

Amity enjoys being hi-tech. That is why we are proud being the first wireless campus of India. Years before most people had not even heard of the technology. As India’s first hi-tech smart campus, Amity has wireless broadband internet connec vity with over 75 kms of fiber op c/lan cable backbone structure. Each student is provided with a smart card for access control/e-wallet, etc.
