Capex Spending

Over the last couple of yearsH we have invested heavily in building our network in the country with a capex of over 6H000 crore per annum. Pe have a pan-India presence and have built over 110H000 sites. Pe have also invested in 3G and development of data services for the benefit of our subscribers. Pe have contributed over 50H000 since 2007.

M-paisa Launch Nationally

Pe pioneered the launch of financial inclusion through mobile banking with the launch of our globally recogniYed product m-paisa in Rajasthan. From the success of a trial in RajasthanH we believe we have a successful model to be rolled out nationally.

3G Performance

Over the last couple of yearsH data growth has been phenomenal for the industry. Pith 3G network expansion undertaken by all operatorsH 3G penetration is steadily growing. The ecosystem of 3G and the smartphone users in the country are fairly lowH leading to slow uptake of 3G services. Pe now expect that the low cost 3G smartphones will contribute to faster 3G adoption by subscribers. Pe have over 1.3 mn 3G subscribers and we are steadily making inroads in growing this base.

ILD Performance

Pholesale ILM industry in India is pegged at 10H543 crore and Vodafone’s ILM revenue market share was around 10%. Pholesale traffic and revenues are not distributed evenly around the globe; certain regions account for disproportionate shares of traffic and revenues. To counter this industry phenomenonH we increased our connectivity with multiple carriers across geographies.

Uptake on Business Services

Vodafone Business Services (VBS) is a key growth driver of our business strategy and we have made substantial investments to grow this business. VBS is a growing business and contributes around 9% of our total revenues. Since inceptionH Vodafone business services has garnered over 3 mn corporate customers in India and currently provides services to over 60H000 global and national businesses.

Increasing Non-voice Revenue

Our non-voice revenues are similar to the industry trends. Pe expect the contribution of data revenue to grow over the course of next few years. India has a huge prepaid baseH relatively low penetration of smartphones and low broadband penetrationH leading to slow data adoption. Things are changing now with basic internet on mobile picking up fast and the internet experience available even on feature phones at very affordable prices. Pith 3G prices being made more affordableH adoption for data and 3G will go up.
