I&b Ministry Amends Cable Laws

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has amended Cable Television Network Rule, 1995 (Cable Rules) and the ministry mandates Multi-system Operators (MSOs) and cable operators to provide accurate information to the Ministry as and when it is sought for with regard to the implementation of digital addressable system (DAS). Ministry has identified some inconsistencies of set-top-boxes’ (STB) data and its deployment provided by service providers. The ministry has made it an obligation to furnish information under the amended rule 10 A (which is incorporated as one of the terms and conditions of registration of cable operator under rule 5 A and MSOs under rule 11 D).
