‘We have deployed 200 Qfabric installations in about a year’

- Malini N

What are the key drivers in the networking industry?

In the industry today, a virtue cycle has materialized. The 3 key components forming this virtue cycle—movement towards cloud computing, proliferation of smart devices, and bandwidth are the key drivers.

Cloud is gaining traction as it is fundamentally cost-efficient and helps to consolidate data. The second thing is the whole explosion of smart devices. These 2 trends are actually complementing each other. And the connectivity between these consumers of data and the providers of information is becoming plentiful and inexpensive so the virtue cycle is building up. It will change the way we use computing and communication in the future. And Juniper Networks is at the center of this virtue cycle that is building up. Juniper is the key enabler in these 3 spaces. Bandwidth is the business we have always been in. Today we are enabling wireless operating as well. With LTE, so much of data capability will come in. So just imagine the load that is going to come into the back-end network. We are enabling wireless operators so that they can beef up their backbone network, in order to deal with the data deluge that is happening. So everywhere Juniper architecture plays a reference play, which is why it is growing so rapidly.

How is the response for your flagship offering QFabric?

QFabric was launched in February 2011 since then we have had about 200 QFabric installations worldwide. QFabric is mainly meant for large infrastructure and we really captured this market, also we had the first mover advantage. While in India, there are hardly customers who could really absorb the huge scale. To further tap the mass market at the enterprise level and SME data centers; in this quarter we have introduced a mid-range QFabric with some variation to QFabric. With this launch, we will hit the sweet corn as far as the Indian data centers are concerned. QFabric basically simplifies the data center architecture and it minimizes latency.

Where do you see demand in the networking industry at present?

Campus solutions are ramping up. Lots of green field campuses are coming up in private and government sector. Security is a big area and obviously the data center. The other area that is happening in a big way is the expansion of office branches. Large campuses and data center are getting build up in India.

What are the key trends in the networking market?

The key trends in the networking market are data center consolidation, security, and mobility. These trends are alike both in India and worldwide.
