Trai Di­rects Op­er­a­tors to be Trans­par­ent on Black­out Days

The Tele­com Reg­u­la­tory Author­ity of In­dia has man­dated op­er­a­tors not to ex­ceed the rate in tar­iff plan in which the con­sumer has en­rolled while charg­ing for calls or SMSs on black­out days’ in or­der to bring in more trans­parency. Trai had ear­lier men­tioned that the num­ber of black­out days should not ex­ceed 5 days in a cal­en­dar year. The term ‘black­out days’ are ref­ered to the days on which ser­vice providers do not al­low free or con­ces­sional voice calls or SMS’ of­fered by them un­der any plan or pack­age.
