Trai Directs 7 Operators to Disconnect 5,923 Ported Mobile Numbers from Loop

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has directed 7 telecom operators— Bharti airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular, Reliance Communications, Tata Teleservices (TTSL), Reliance Telecom, and Aircel to disconnect 5,923 ported numbers from Loop Telecom’s network within 48 hours. Trai has also demanded operators to provide a compliance report in next 15 days. On July 13, 2012, Loop Telecom complained to DoT that the numbers were ported illegally by these 7 operators. The company said that 5,923 numbers were never activated for subscriber use.
