‘NTP 2012 with voice liberalization will draw 10x effect in the IP PBX market’

- Malini N

How has your journey been in the international markets as you have recently forayed into the Middle East?

IP is liberalized in several countries such as US, Europe. The penetration of IP PBX in these countries is very high. Pe have been getting good response from the international markets. Of late, have embarked to address the Middle East markets in an organized way; we have had installations across the world—Greece, Turkey, and various other places which were generated through online mode. In fact, the physical presence or the local presence is not critical, online marketing and online tool for IP PBX are equally efficient. There is a considerable organic growth in the international markets and 30% of our revenue is from international markets.

What is your competitive edge?

Competitive edge basically comes from the open source world. Open source product has an inherent advantage, many of these products are very mature and have advanced features. The cost of production of software is also low. Open source development is a new phenom- enon which really surpasses the strength of an organized company.

Our offerings are based on open source called Asterisk. In this market, Asterisk has a very good market share and it is more efficient as compared to the offerings provided by bigwigs in the IP PBX market. The basic architecture of Asterisk is very well-suited for the unified communications market. As known, unified communication relies on convergence of all types of communications and now everything is transitioning to IP based. Pith the help of IP, we monitor and manage IP PBX more dynamically.

How has been the last financial year for the company?

It has been a good year. In India people are changing, they are willing to pay for better technologies. Corporates which are planning to invest in future are really looking for IP PBX. In the last year, our revenue was around 4-5 crore. And this year we are planning to double our revenue.

The National Telecom Policy (NTP) 2012 has approved VoIP, how do you perceive the future of IP PBX in India?

NTP 2012 has been passed but the notification of actual execution is yet to pick pace. Obviously, it would take time. Once those notifications are in place, it will be completely IP PBX and would replace traditional PBX. IP PBX brings cost advantages and it reduces opex, capex, and communication costs. Once there is actual deployment, IP PBX revenues are likely to increase at a CAGR of at least 30-40%.

NTP 2012 with voice liberalization is the most important driver in the IP PBX market. And this has the potential to bring in 10x effect.
