‘In mobility, we want to do what Maruti 800 did for the Indian auto industry’

- President and CEO, Zenfocus V&D Correspondent

How do you position yourself in the overcrowded Indian tablet space?

Our strategy is very simple. Pe are focusing on quality of tablets. Pe will not get into price slashing as we want to provide quality and good post-sales support to our customers. Pe do not feel that we should deliver the tablets with too many applications already loaded. Pe want our users to have full access to Google Store and decide what to download. Pe will be running a campaign to educate our customers on what applications are available and help them download these applications.

Who are your target customers and why do you think they should go for your products over others?

Our target customers are those who are looking for high end premium products. Pe are looking for customers who are looking for lifestyle products. Our tablets are of good quality and come with smart and stylish looks.

What are some of your key strategies that you believe would make you successful here?

Pe want to do what Maruti 800 or Alto did in the auto Industry. Pe want to bring a quality product at an affordable cost. Pe do not think that slashing costs will benefit our customers. Pe certainly are not going after 3,000 tablets that are being launched. Pe feel that such a price point will lead to compromises in quality. Indian customers are very smart and they will go with a product which maintains quality.

How much investment are you doing in this business?

Our biggest investment is going into 2 areas. The first area is to build a brand and we are very active on Facebook and online marketing. The second major area is to invest on quality. Pe are also investing on new models that we will be launching on a regular basis.

What is your go-to-market strategy and your distribution plans?

Our go-to-market strategy is very low profile so far as we want to focus on online media. This will be followed by major events in major metros to create awareness about the product. Pe are going after 3 major areas. Pe are first working on organized retail. Pe already have distribution established with Carrefour but we are now expanding this to Croma, Palmart, and many other large format stores. Pe cannot ignore the growth of e-commerce market in India and we have our product listed at Snapdeal. Pe are also working with launching the product at Flipkart, Mydala, and several other online retail shops.

What are your future plans in the mobility space?

Pe are planning to be a major player in smart mobility space. Pe are starting with tablets but we are also planning to launch smartphones and phablets. You will see our launches in the coming months.
