‘Our focus is on telecom, enterprise mobility, and BYOD’
What is the overall focus of CommunicAsia this time?
Some of the main sectors which we are focusing on are network communication, mobile communication, and satellite communication. Every year we also highlight some of the new and key technologies at the event, this year we will be looking at next-gen connected services focused on OTT and IPTV. We will also have the smart enterprise section looking at cloud and M2M solutions. There will be some new sections which will focus on telecom (customer experience management), enterprise mobility (talking about the security issues), and BYOD. We will also have content delivery track which is a new topic. This time we will have ComminicAsia and BroadcastAsia held at the same venue so we will have a combined visionary session for both the events.
Which are the new companies participating?
Right now we are expecting many of the key exhibitors to return and also many new entries, ie, Oracle Communication has confirmed its participation as they will be exhibiting for the first time. Companies such as Barco are also new to the list which will showcase its projectors and display technology. Last year, 21 nations participated in the event and this year we are expecting over 1,200 companies. We majorly focus on Asia but we do have potential buyers and sellers in middle east as well.
Do you see a drop in the exhibitors’ or attendees’ count due to economic slowdown?
Right now, I would say that the show still continues to gain the support of the industry. Last year, we had about 1,255 exhibitors. Still a lot of time is left for the event so it is hard to anticipate anything now but we are very optimistic.
What is the theme of the conference?
The theme of the conference is—The Next Wave ‘The future is the empowered customer’.
What is the reason of incorporating SatCom 2013 along with CommunicAsia?
SatCom is not a new event for us, it is actually running for the 11th time/edition. We have a strong contingent of satellite communication and if we talk about the numbers, we have more than 150 companies from satellite communication industry coming to exhibit. Initially, we started with SatCom branding but after that it was under CommunicAsia. With the strong participation from Satellite communication companies, we decided to bring the SatCom branding again. SatCom Asia is incorporated under both CommunicAsia and Enterprise IT and therefore we hope to attract the audience from telecom, broadcasting and as well as from maritime, military, and government sectors.
