The global trade lobbies are apprehensive about India’s local customization targets since many international network and IT system vendors such as Nokia Solutions Networks, , ZTE Corp, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei Technologies and Cisco Systems with broadbased operations in India already invest heavily in conducting R&D, developing software, and performing related services in the country. In a recent communication to Deit Y, these lobbies have reportedly pointed out that the value addition of any ICT product is not in the hardware, but in the R&D, embedded and pre-loaded software, and services related to integration to turn the product in a business solution. Besides, the capability to meet domestic VA requirements depends on the availability of sufficient domestic manufacturing sources for specific electronic products.
