Tata Comm to double centres in India

-

Telecom services provider Tata Communications is planning to invest USD$200 mn to double its data center capacity in India over the next three years. The company has inaugurated its 44th data centre in Greater Kailash, New Delhi, as a part of the same objective along with plans of increasing the capacity from 500,000 sq ft to 1,000,000 sq ft in three years. Centrally managed, these data centers provide customers with optimal performance, reduced total cost of ownership, security and effective utilization of resources. “With an increase in the uptake of cloud services, the third party data centre market is poised to grow very fast as many enterprises are now strategizing to avail IT Infrastructure ‘as a service’ rather than investing in huge captive data centres,” said Benoy CS, director, ICT Practice, Frost & Sullivan. Rangu Salgame, chief executive officer, growth ventures, Tata Communications, said: “We are witnessing a surge in data generation and storage needs like never before. Enterprises are contending with trends like bring your own device (BYOD), social networking, mobile, analytics and cloud - and Tata Communications is well placed to partner with them through these exciting times.” To expand its global data centre footprint, Tata Communications has recently entered into strategic partnerships with NEXTDC in Australia, Interxion in Germany and Austria, as well as Pacific Link Telecom (PLT) in Malaysia.
