100G and Terabit Networks are Here

We expect 2015 to be another great year for bandwidth growth, on a global basis. More applications, more uses for smartphones and more bandwidth for enterprise growth, and we expect data centers and cloud applications will be key contributors. We see mainstream application for 100G infrastructure growing, though the locations of their growth vary around the world. It would suffice to say that 100G and Terabit Networks are here, and 2015 will be a year for their growth.

In Asia Pacific, we believe the growth will be largely driven by enterprise and consumer, but the impact in APAC on the infrastructure will be towards long haul and metro network upgrades to 100G. From a technology perspective, we see demand for 100G has taken off all across APAC, with telecom operators all over Asia looking to grow their network while driving costs down, 100G seems to be the best way to go to maximize their capacities while driving down their cost per bit.
